Since I’ve got another child down due to chickenpox, expect many reviews to consist of Marvel, DC and other animated films this week guys! HAHA! Thankfully the Marvel movies are well done.

I am a huge fan of the Marvel Ultimate line. As much as I would have enjoyed to have been alive during the birth of the comic book, I wasn’t. There’s years and years of history built into these characters that I’m not really familiar with so when they began the Ultimate line of comics I was pumped. They’re basically a reboot of the characters. They follow similar storylines from the original series with twists here and there and are obviously updated to modern day settings.

The movies that have come out of this line are impressive. Slightly more adult oriented but still good for the kiddies. My son is a big fan of these so his first day home with chickenpox he spent planning which movies to watch. Ultimate Avengers follows the birth of the Avengers from the moment Captain America is found frozen in ice until the time when the Hulk is stopped from destroying the city. It’s so much fun to watch some of my favorite heroes in action. The voice acting is well done and each character’s voice suits them. The animation, while not groundbreaking, is well done and the only fault of the film is that I would love for them to be even more adult oriented.

DC has done a great job producing animated films that I’m not even sure my kids would watch as they can be pretty violent. The Marvel films are trying to strike that perfect balance so that us grown-ups can sit down with the kids and not be bored to tears. If you or your rugrats love comic books then you’ll have no problem enjoying this movie.
