Another in the third series of After Dark Horrorfest and this one was probably the best one I have seen. It started out great but finished more along the lines of good, but when it’s great it really shines. The villain of the flick is downright creepy and Patrick O’Kane as the father is perfect. I’ve got kids myself and the anguish he displays at the loss of his son cut right through me.
The man responsible for his sons kidnapping is also responsible for 13 other missing persons and when the father goes back to the criminals house he finds that all the missing people haven’t been killed. Through years of abuse and experiments with drugs, the criminal has kept them all alive and when they’re suddenly released they wreak havoc on the unsuspecting town. That’s where it starts getting pretty gory.
They’re fast, they’re eating and tearing people apart and due to all the drugs in their systems they’re nearly unstoppable. One of them also happens to be the son. What started as a seriously intense psychological horror quickly turns into something along the lines of a zombie movie but they aren’t really zombies. (Not that you could tell the difference) That seemed to take away a little from how great it started but it was still a really good film. I’m also noticing an ongoing theme of very bleak endings. There’s no happy sunshine and rainbows at the end of this one and most of the time that’s how I like my movies.
The performances are great aside from the slightly unbelievable dialogue between the group of teens that are in the flick. I don’t recall having such intelligent conversations with stoners as they pull off in this one but at least it was interesting. There’s some really great gore towards the end and the start of the flick really had me on edge. I would have to say that this is one After Dark flick everyone should check out.

Im a horror, thriller fan too. If you have any great 2008 and + collection, can you pin them on my blog Hagi dude?
Thanks a lot.
